Warning: It's kinda long.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had been waiting for that night for literally four months and it was finally so close that I could almost taste it. I was fangirling all the way down to Worcester.
The Friday before the show, I skipped school to get to Worcester quicker. You know, to beat traffic and such. When we, my mother and I, left my dad was sick so my mom felt bad for leaving him. That didn't last long. When we finally got to Worcester it was about 3 in the afternoon and we were both tired. We checked in and hung out at the hotel. Around dinner time we ordered food from some Italian place and the delivery man that came up to the room looked exactly like Jeremy McKinnon from A Day To Remember. It was awesome. After that we just chilled for a while. Watching television and stuff. My mom started coughing really badly and ended up not sleeping at all that night. At about 9:30 I finally went to bed because I knew I was going to be getting up early the next day, but between my mom and the caffeine from the two full 20oz Pepsi that I drank 10 minutes before bed (stupid decision on my part) I didn't really sleep.
Saturday morning came around and the reality was finally setting in. Oh my Max, I'm seeing Escape The Fate tonight! Once we got up we went looking for a pharmacy to get something. We ended up finding one and getting lost for an hour and a half trying to get back. We found an amazing bagel place and I fell in love with it. I wish we were able to fine it again while we were leaving, but we couldn't. At least we can say we tried. After we found our way back we chilled for a little while. I found out that Escape The Fate was going to be signing the cover of Outburn magazine, so my mom thought that meant we had to look for a place to buy our own copy when I told her over and over again that they'll hand a copy out. We spent an hour looking for a Walmart and then another half hour trying to get back. The whole time my mom was complaining about how bad the driving was.
After that we drove past the Palladium (the venue) to see how many people where already waiting. I saw James, the person I was meeting up with, in line and instead of going back to the hotel and waiting another 3-4 hours until it was close to the show I got out and waited with him for 6 hours in the freezing cold. It was worth it though. I met some cool people in like. One of them came off as a total jerk when I first met him, but turned out to be really nice and saved me a couple of times when the crowd was fighting and pushing. My mom ended up not going inside with me because she felt really sick. So she went and waited in the car. I felt bad because I knew she must have been worrying the whole time. She kept CALLING me during the show, too. And that's a huge no-no.
Once we got inside me and James got front row. Well I guess you could call it that. We were a few rows back, but for the most part I could still see. I was so excited that I barely noticed the pain the my toes at they began to warm up. After that this is how the night went:
Drive A:
The first band to play was a band called Drive A. I hadn't heard of them until then, but I guess you could say they were okay. Everyone was still defrosting so we all kind of stood there during their set. May I say that the lead singer tried his hardest to get the crowd to move around and all. He managed to get a small mosh pit going for one of their songs, kick me in the face while he crowd surfed, split the crowd in two and get James and I separated, and whip me in the face with the mic cord when he "joined us." I was kicked a lot during their set because, once again, their lead singer tried to involve us and wanted people to send the crowd surfers up front. I have never had so many people lifted above my head as I did that night. Thankfully I'm short and was able to duck down when they brought someone up.
Get Scared:
They were amazing as usual. Though being short became my usual enemy because I wasn't able to see at all. I still had a good time because I was able to sing along with Nick because I wasn't near the speakers and could hear. The only other bad thing about their set besides not being about to see was the fact that I was so squished that I couldn't move. Like everyone started jumping and because I was pressed in the middle of four people when they jumped I jumped. That's how close I was. After a while I couldn't breathe and thankfully their set ended soon after that because people loosen up. While the next band was setting up James found me, but that didn't last very long.
Motionless In White:
They were the third band to play and honestly, the scariest. I love the band and the members, but their set was scary for me. So many people above my head! I am now really scared of feet because I was kicked so many times. Half way into their set I gave up fighting everyone around me and just let it take me whereever. Five minutes later I regretted that decision because I ended up on the edge of the mosh pit. Unlike in Drive A, Motionless In White had one going their whole set. I was pushed and pulled into it six times and each time barely managing to get back to "safety" without being hurt. On top of that, I some how ended up standing in front of where people were being lifted up. I was t-bagged so many times it wasn't even funny -.- Because I couldn't move my arms I ended up having to bite people who landed on top of me because they wouldn't move. Shame on me. I just wanted MIW's set to end so I could leave that area. Once it was over I booked it the back/stair area.
Alesana:
I found a good spot where I could stand and watch the show without being pushed and pulled in all directions. I was also able to watch the area that I was before and I seriously don't know how I survived that. I met this guy with liberty spikes that makes David's mohawk look like something a first grader would have. It was amazing. I was able to find him when he went into the mosh pit and when he came out it looked like someone had deflated a balloon. I was only able to sing to one of Alesana's songs mostly because I don't know very many of them. I found that once I got away from the mass I had a way better time. After their set was a 35 minute wait for the next and final band.
Escape The Fate:
They had us waiting for 35 minutes, but it was well worth it. They started off with their album intro, Choose Your Fate, and everyone started chanting. I felt like a cool kid. Just saying. After that was Massacre, followed by 10 Miles Wide, and Day of Weckoning. I loved being able to sing along with them because last concert I was near the speakers and couldn't hear a thing. Craig's voice-- Oh my Max! And I thought it was heavenly on albums. Lives it's just hnnnggg. After that Craig gave a little speech and then they played Zombie Dance, Something, another speech, Issues, Gorgeous Nightmare, You Are So Beautiful. For a "last song" they played Situations. It was amazing. They went of stage and everyone started chanting "one more song" and Craig, being the silly person he is, would run on stage, the crowd would cheer and then he'd run off again. He did that three times and they finally came back on. They played This War Is Ours (The Guillotine II) followed right after with The Aftermath (G3). After that the show was over. I would say that their show aren't for someone who has epilepsy. So many flashing lights it was crazy. On a sad note, one of the first things I noticed was that Max wasn't there and the MIW bassist was filling in. I was sad, but I got over it.
After the show:
While waiting in line someone came down and gave a green bracelet to the first 100 people in line and told them to go the lobby when the show was over. Because of the time I got there was one of those people. We got in line at the end of the show and a woman came down giving everyone a copy of Outburn. Finally it was my turn. Sitting two feet from me was Craig Mabbitt, Robert Ortiz, and Monte Money. I tried my hardest not to fan girl, but ended up crying (which is something I've never done) They signed the cover and I got to hug all of them. OH MY MAX!! I HUGGED CRAIG MABBITT! They were so nice! People are always saying that Craig is a total jerk to everyone, including his fans, but I don't see where people get that impression. He was very nice to me. I asked Robert for a hug and he was like "Come over here and give me a real hug!". Craig was like "Thank you for coming to the show." and Monte smelt so good! It was heaven. Finally meeting people that I've looked up to for so long. It would have been better if Max was there, but he's sick so it's understandable. It's not like he was being a jerk and purposely missed the signing. I almost mentioned about driving all the way from Maine, but I didn't because I was tried of "playing that card" for everyone. I wish I talked to them longer though.
During the wait for that my mom called me and she wanted me to hurry. She was sick and waiting in the car. Needless to say I wasn't able to fangirl to her because she was mad. She had a reason though. Once we got back to the hotel I pretty much went to bed right after.
The next morning, today, my first waking thought was "AHHHHH, I hugged Craig Mabbitt last night. I touched him. Oh my sweet mother of Max." After I woke up I got ready and we left. Now I'm sitting here typing this fangirling over the memory while I should be doing my US History coursework.
And that is that. [:
I have "sold my soul" to Max Green via Twitter, haha. And he is now my "God" hence why I say "Oh my Max". Also things that are italicized are thoughts. Things that run threw my mind when I think of/thought of when I wrote what I wrote.
